About Us
Founded in 2020, Heart of Nepal walks alongside Dalit women and children in the Indrawati Rural Municipality, specifically in Sipapokhare Ward 7 and Bhimtar Ward 12, where caste and gender hierarchies continue to shape access to rights, opportunity, and dignity.

Our work begins with what already exists: the strength, solidarity, and knowledge of Dalit women. We support women in organizing into self-run collectives that prioritize community-determined goals — from building local livelihoods and sharing vocational skills to expanding access to education and mutual aid.

We don’t impose models. We learn from and build with communities who have long practiced resistance, survival, and care. Together, we co-create opportunities for women to claim space, share resources, and support Dalit children in realizing their full potential.
Our Approach
-
Community Ownership: Programs are community-initiated, designed, and implemented.
-
Decolonial Practice: We challenge top-down aid models that view marginalized communities as passive beneficiaries.
-
Intersectional Justice: We address overlapping oppressions, caste, gender, and poverty, not as separate issues but as systems that must be dismantled together.
-
Ethical Partnerships: We collaborate with institutions and funders who value community voice, thoughtful approach, and long-term impact.
Our Goals
Build Women’s Leadership
Create sustained opportunities for Dalit and Janajati women to lead — as entrepreneurs, mentors, and organizers within their own communities.
Strengthen Local Livelihoods
Facilitate skills-based training and savings groups that support women in generating income and achieving economic independence.
Advance Community Education
Support access to quality education for children, while promoting legal awareness, digital literacy, and reproductive health knowledge for women.
Foster Peer-Led Change
Train local women as peer mentors and facilitators who carry forward the work — ensuring sustainability through shared leadership.
Disrupt Structural Inequity
Challenge caste- and gender-based oppression through grassroots advocacy, storytelling, and ethical partnerships rooted in justice.
Our Vision
At Heart of Nepal, we believe in harnessing the collective strengths of community and fostering an ecosystem of knowledge, resources, and agency. Our holistic model catalyzes lasting social transformation from within, challenging long-standing prejudices and regressive norms that have historically subjugated the community.
